The Festival of Remembrance, one of the most significant events in the royal calendar, is an annual celebration held to honor “the service of, and the sacrifices made by the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces community,” according to the Royal British Legion.

This year’s festival marked 80 years since the conclusion of World War II, and recognized stories of sacrifice in battle and the families of those affected.

At the Saturday event, George wore a dark suit and a striped tie to complement his mother’s dark dress and white collar.

On Sunday, at a Remembrance Day service, royal family members laid wreaths for fallen soldiers and paid tribute to their predecessors at the Cenotaph in London.

Last year, Prince William, Kate and other members of Britain’s royal family attended the remembrance events.

In a military event in May of this year, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis stepped out for their first official public appearance of the year.

The children of Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales, joined their parents and other members of the royal family in London at commemorations for the 80th anniversary of VE — Victory in Europe — Day, which marks the end of World War II in Europe.
