Update: Power fully restored after outage

UPDATE – 1:30 p.m.

PUC says power has been fully restored following today’s outage.

UPDATE – 11:30 a.m.

PUC provided some information about the cause of today’s outage.

“While preparing for a scheduled outage, we encountered equipment issues that ultimately led to the current outage,” said Jairus Patterson, PUC’s manager of communications and customer relations.

“The planned outage was rescheduled, and our employees turned their attention to repairing the issue. Power has since been restored to half of the affected customers, and crews are working diligently to resolve the problem.”

Over 800 Saultites are without power this morning.

PUC’s outage map shows 859 customers are experiencing an outage in the Boundary Road area between Trunk Road and Bennett Boulevard.

It started at 9:38 a.m.

The utility does not yet know the cause.
