Boland knocks over bunny as Konstas’ biggest flaw exposed yet again: Shield Wrap

Victorian seamer Scott Boland has knocked over his bunny yet again, dismissing New South Wales opener Sam Konstas for a sixth time in the Sheffield Shield on day two at the SCG.

The 20-year-old, dropped from Australia’s Test side last week, was bowled through the gate for 12 after leaving a gap between bat and pad, with his susceptibility to inswinging deliveries still a glaring flaw. He didn’t manage a boundary during his 59-ball stay at the crease.

The Blues were 7-123 when Sean Abbott fell but captain Steve Smith remained unbeaten in the middle, having brought up his half-century earlier in the afternoon.

Earlier, the Victorians were bowled out for 382 after NSW spinner Nathan Lyon cleaned up the tail, finishing with 4-82 from 29.1 overs.

Elsewhere in the Sheffield Shield, Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey looks in fine touch ahead of the Ashes, cracking a rapid half-century on day two of the Sheffield Shield clash against Tasmania in Hobart.

Resuming overnight on 25, the South Australian raced towards his fifty in just 47 deliveries, later dismissed by Tigers seamer Gabe Bell following a rain delay.

The tourists were knocked over for just 177, trailing by 32 runs after the first innings, off the back of Beau Webster’s five-wicket haul.

The all-rounder issued a reminder to selectors of his handy knack of taking wickets with figures of 5/50 from 13 overs, including the big wicket of Travis Head yesterday.

Tasmania were 0/34 in their second innings with potential Test debutant Jake Weatherald unbeaten on 11 when another rain delay halted play.

Across in Perth, Cameron Green returned to the bowling crease in style, nicking off Angus Lovell to snare the only wicket of the opening session.

Green bowled a four over spell that conceded only seven runs as Queensland reached lunch at 1/77 with Marnus Labuschagne (13*) and Matt Renshaw (48*) at the crease.
