Frankenstein: Jacob Elordi’s Win Is Bigger Than The Oscar After Replacing Andrew Garfield

Jacob Elordi is simply phenomenal as the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, but it wasn’t always meant to be like this. Before Elordi, the role of the creature was supposed to go to The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield.

Due to some scheduling conflicts, Andrew Garfield had to drop out of the project, paving the way for Jacob Elordi. However, the actor’s performance is so legendary that it is impossible to imagine anyone else instead of Jacob Elordi in that role.

It is quite a big achievement since Andrew Garfield is indeed one of the finest actors of this generation. With his role as Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man movies and his work in The Social Network and Tick, Tick… Boom! is still discussed today.

Why Did Guillermo del Toro Choose Jacob Elordi Over Andrew Garfield?

Speaking with USA Today, iconic director Guillermo del Toro revealed the exact moment that he was impressed with Jacob Elordi’s acting skills in the 2023 film, Priscilla.

Some actors, the moment you make contact, you already know them, and you already have years of friendship, even if you just met them. That happened to me. I instantly trusted him [Jacob Elordi].

Toro revealed that when Elvis loses his cool in Priscilla, as well as “the mutation of the character in ‘Saltburn’ from possible victim to sort of a righteous entitled rage” really stuck wth him when considering Jacob Elordi for the role.
