Is there school on Veterans Day 2025? See which Oklahoma City-area districts are closed

How did Veterans Day originate?
What originated as Armistice Day in England, is now our Veterans Day
As the community pauses to honor America’s servicemembers on Veterans Day, a few school districts across the Oklahoma City metro will also pause classes on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The holiday, also known as Armistice Day, coincides with the unofficial end of World War I, which happened when an armistice between Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Mid‑Del School District—serving Midwest City, Del City and portions of Oklahoma City—will close its K-12 campuses for Veterans Day, although district offices remain open. Meanwhile, Crutcho Public Schools, located just north of Tinker Air Force Base, confirmed in a district announcement that all schools will be closed next Tuesday in observance of the holiday.
While Veterans Day is both a federal and Oklahoma holiday, school districts in the state can decide what days to close schools.
