Klint Kubiak’s next landing spot just became painfully obvious for the Seahawks

While the Seattle Seahawks made a bunch of changes to the players who led the offense this past offseason, perhaps the most important move was hiring offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Kubiak probably could have even taken fading quarterback Geno Smith and made him good. He’s helped make Sam Darnold a potential MVP.
But Seattle’s offense, especially in the first half, is just operating at a far higher level than it has in years. Maybe ever. The team has averaged 30.6 points per game in 2025, and that is the highest in franchise history. A huge credit must go to Kubiak’s versatile scheme and play-calling for that.
Through Week 10, he is doing everything a coach should: He is putting his players in the best situations for them to succeed. Could the run game be better and more consistent? Yes, but is that the scheme or the talent in terms of running blocking?
Seattle Seahawks’ Klint Kubiak could find his way to the New York Giants
When he was the OC for the New Orleans Saints in 2024, the team got off to a terrifically hot start offensively, scoring 40-plus points in each of their first two games. Then injuries set in, and no scheme could have augmented the talent left over.
The truth is that the 38-year-old Kubiak is ready to become a head coach in the NFL. He has the pedigree, as his father, Gary, was a long-time NFL coach, and his brother, Klay, is a successful offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.
Now, a job that might be perfect for Klint Kubiak has become available. The New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll a day after Week 10’s game. New York has a rookie quarterback with a lot of promise in the person of Jaxson Dart, and has the skill set that Kubiak could build from.
Do the Giants have a defensive problem? Absolutely, but Kubiak’s first job would be to make sure the offense is running at a high level (and likely calling the plays for the unit), while hiring a good defensive coordinator. This is the reverse of what Mike Macdonald does with the Seattle Seahawks. Macdonald gets the defense humming and relies on Kubiak to make the offense good. Mission accomplished.
The negative part would come for Seattle, of course, Kubiak has been such an upgrade over recent OCs Ryan Grubb and Shane Waldron. He would probably take offensive line coach John Benton with him to the Giants, too. Starting over would be no fun for the Seahawks, but it might be their reality.
