Empowering military families: Blue Star Families’ mission to aid active-duty loved ones

Supporting the unsung heroes…. this is the goal of Blue Star Families.
Alec Emmert and Carla Moss with Blue Star Families and Jamie Thomas, an Active-Duty Navy Spouse, joined Good Morning Washington on Monday to discuss the Blue Star Families program.
Blue Star Families is a non-profit organization founded by military family members to empower families who have loved ones actively serving.
It is dedicated to providing raising awareness for the challenges that military families go through and providing assistance through innovative programs. Some of the areas the non-profit focuses on include fighting economic insecurity, creating family strength through special programming, providing peer support and much more.
Jamie and Carla stressed that it’s very important for families to connect with each other because being a military family can be an extremely hard experience.
“The isolation you feel when you move into a new area can be so challenging,” Carla said. “Blue Star helped me transition smoothly while also being there for me.”
Blue Star Families hosts numerous events for families, one of the most popular being their coffee chats.
