Dakota Johnson Stars in Valentino’s Cruise 2026 Ad Campaign

Dakota Johnson is making headlines as she takes on a prominent role in the fashion world, debuting as the face of Valentino’s latest advertising campaign, set to launch this Thursday. Captured in a series of striking images, Johnson’s involvement stems from a longstanding friendship with creative director Alessandro Michele, who had previously collaborated with her during his time at Gucci. Valuing their connection, Michele invited her to join him at Valentino after announcing her as a global brand ambassador last month.
Expressing her excitement, Johnson shared, “Nothing brings me more joy than collaborating with people I love, admire and respect. I am so grateful and happy to join the Valentino family. Alessandro is one of the most inspiring people I know, and I’m honored to be with him again.”
The campaign, which promotes the cruise 2026 collection, features not just Johnson but also an eclectic ensemble of talent, including iconic model Marisa Berenson, pop sensation Tate McRae, singer-songwriter Dev Hynes, German artist Anne Imhof, and ballet dancer Devon Teuscher, alongside various models. The scenes are set against plush, intimate interiors, emphasizing a “Nocturne” theme that hints at a tranquil, dreamlike atmosphere before sleep takes over.
Michele elaborated on this concept, noting, “There is a moment, just before the night comes, when conscience prepares to surrender…the ‘Nocturne’ ad campaign decides to inhabit that threshold.” He describes the hotel backdrop as a unique setting where intimacy meets anonymity, highlighting the fleeting yet personal interactions that occur in such spaces.

The campaign encapsulates a metaphor for modern life, illustrating a collective yet isolated existence within a shared environment. Michele remarked, “Each room is a fragment of universe, populated by singular existences…a shared ritual: the gesture of giving oneself over to sleep.” This vision strives to evoke a sense of shared experience from often solitary moments.
Visually, the campaign builds upon earlier imagery from the collection’s lookbook, featuring scenes of the cast engaged in tranquil activities — whether napping, playing music, or sharing quiet moments. The cinematic aspect of the campaign is heightened with a moody video directed by Renell Medrano, showcasing the talent moving through the hotel, enriched by Chopin’s “Nocturne In E Flat,” performed by Angus Pendergast. Johnson is depicted zipping up her Valentino dress and reclining on the floor, a moment that encapsulates the campaign’s essence.
As Johnson steps into her role, she joins an impressive roster of global ambassadors for Valentino, including Clairo, Sophie Thatcher, Freen Sarocha, Jeff Satur, Lim Yoona, and Colman Domingo, who has recently expanded his ambassadorship to include Valentino Beauty’s fragrance lines. This collaboration marks a notable moment in both Johnson’s career and Valentino’s creative journey, demonstrating the intersection of fashion, art, and personal connection.
