Forget ‘Stranger Things’ — This Mystery Show Should Be on Your Netflix Watchlist in November

Heading into November, I would have picked Stranger Things season 5 as the most anticipated Netflix show.
But Netflix has a way of surprising its subscribers with unexpected blockbusters. And this month, that show appears to be The Beast in Me.
It’s a new mystery thriller that caught my eye when I was looking over the schedule, and I firmly believe this show is going to be a hit.
So consider The Beast in Me to be Watch With Us‘ pick for the one Netflix show in November 2025 that you have to stream. And I’ll tell you why.
‘The Beast in Me’ Is a Welcome ‘Homeland’ Reunion
Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys in The Beast in Me Netflix
The Beast in Me executive producer and showrunner Howard Gordon has a history with its leading woman, Claire Danes, that goes back nearly 15 years. Gordon was one of the creative minds behind Homeland, an espionage thriller that starred Danes for eight seasons on Showtime.
This series doesn’t have the same premise as Homeland, but there are definitely parallels that can be drawn between Danes’ Aggie Wiggs and her character on her old show, Carrie Mathison. Aggie is very suspicious about Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), while Carrie was obsessively suspicious about Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis). We know how that story played out in Homeland, but The Beast in Me appears to be going in a different direction.
The Cast Is Terrific
Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys in The Beast in Me Netflix
Getting Danes alone would be considered a coup for this series, but pairing her with Rhys after his roles on The Americans and HBO’s Perry Mason is some top-level casting. Both have been fantastic performers on their previous shows, and if they bring that same level of intensity and passion to this series, then this is going to be a very entertaining.
Their supporting cast is also very impressive, with Breaking Bad‘s Jonathan Banks, Natalie Morales and Brittany Snow playing key roles. Casting is always half the battle for any great series, and it looks like The Beast in Me hit the jackpot. Banks is playing Nile’s father, Martin, while Snow is portraying Niles’ missing wife, Nina. Morales is also playing a significant other in her role as Aggie’s ex-wife, Shelley. They may be divorced, but their story is far from over.

Aggie isn’t the only one suspicious of Nile at the beginning of the series. The police and the general public believe that he may have murdered his wife, Nina. But since no one can prove that, Nile is a free man, even though some consider him a pariah. Aggie’s interest in Nile isn’t purely a desire to get answers or justice for his wife. She’s been haunted by the death of her son, and being around Nile inspires her to start writing again.
The closer Aggie gets to Nile, the more she thinks she’ll uncover about his wife’s fate. But she may not be the only one playing an angle. Nile is interested in Aggie’s offer to help change the public perception about him, and he claims that she has a bloodlust in her that he recognizes. We’ll have to wait and see what that means, but we’re intrigued to see the story come together.
The Beast in Me will stream on Netflix on November 13.
