Veterans Day hits hard for those impacted by shutdown

As the government shutdown appears to wind down, the impacts still linger for some Veterans.

Texas Roadhouse is treating veterans for Veterans Day.

Both veterans and active U.S. military will be able to claim the freebie, which includes one of 10 possible meal options, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time at restaurants nationwide on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

“Texas Roadhouse will continue its annual Veterans Day tradition of treating veterans and active U.S. military to enjoy a free meal,” the Louisville, Kentucky-based chain restaurant said in a statement.

Here’s how to get one.

What meal options are available with the voucher?

According to Texas Roadhouse, eligible customers can redeem one of 10 entrees, including a 6-oz sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/iced tea or coffee.

Veterans, or active U.S. military, can redeem the voucher on any day through May 31, 2026.

How to get meal voucher

Meal vouchers will be distributed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Proof of service is required to claim the freebie so make sure to bring your military ID, VA card, or discharge papers.
