Match Preview | Bristol Rovers v Plymouth Argyle

Opposition…
Plymouth have had a tough season back in Sky Bet League One. The Pilgrims finished second from bottom in the Championship last term. They had a bright end to the campaign under Miron Muslić, who led them to three wins in their final five games as well as a famous victory over Liverpool in the Emirates FA Cup towards the start of his tenure. However, he could not stop them from avoiding relegation back to the third tier.
Muslić switched to 2. Bundesliga giant FC Schalke 04, before the start of the 2025/26 term, with Plymouth electing Tom Cleverley as their new head coach. The former Manchester United midfielder had a difficult start at the club, losing his first four league games at the helm.
A positive September saw Plymouth beat Stockport County, Luton Town, and Burton Albion. Nevertheless, Argle have gone through another difficult patch, losing their previous four games in the third tier and are at the bottom of the table.
Plymouth will now be looking for a reaction and will know they will finish top of the Southern Section Group B if they avoid defeat to the Pirates in normal time.
