MEYER EARNS PEAK PERFORMER HONOR

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State senior forward Brooklyn Meyer earned the season’s first Summit League Women’s Basketball Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week award, League officials announced Tuesday. Meyer captured her seventh career weekly honor after helping the Jackrabbits to a 2-0 start.

Meyer opened the season with one of the best performances of her career, scoring 33 points on 14-of-20 shooting to lead the Jackrabbits to a 78-62 road win over a Creighton team receiving votes in the national polls. She finished just one point shy of her career high, pouring in 13 of SDSU’s 20 points in the second quarter and 10 of 26 in the fourth. Meyer also helped the Jackrabbits win the battle on the boards, 39-37, while also contributing five blocks on the defensive end.

The Larchwood, Iowa, native followed up that effort with a double-double performance, tallying 22 points and 11 rebounds, while adding four more blocks in SDSU’s 79-65 home-opening win over Rice. After being limited to five points in the first half, the veteran recorded 17 second-half points on 7-of-12 shooting to push the Jackrabbits to a victory. The double-double marked the 14th of her career.

Her 27.5 ppg and 4.5 bpg averages topped all Summit League players during the opening week of the season.
