Sorry New York, Olive Garden Will Close For Upcoming Major Holidays

Say what you will about Olive Garden and their authenticity, people love to go to this restaurant. To this day there is always a long wait at the one on Wolf Road in Albany and I feel like it is going to remain that way until the end of time. That salad is top notch and the breadsticks are amazing. As an Italian American I can’t behind some of their other dishes, but I’ll eat the heck out of those.
In what I can only call a great move by Olive Garden, they’ve decided to go against the grain of many restaurants during he holidays and not be open on two key days. Those would of course be Thanksgiving and Christmas. According to this report from Rollingout, they’re going to be closing all 900 locations to give their employees some well deserved time off.

If you did have plans to go to Olive Garden for either of those two major holidays you’ll obviously have to find somewhere else to eat. There won’t be any shortages either as many restaurants do remain open on those days to cater to those who don’t want to cook or simply don’t have a place to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving or Christmas meal.
Personally I went out for Thanksgiving for the first time in my life last year and it was a great experience. I chose the Gateway Diner in Albany and can’t recommend them enough for any occasion.
Good on Olive Garden for putting their employees first. Morale is always key to a happy office life, and allowing them to spend time with their families is never going to be underappreciated by anyone.
