Confirmed Chelsea line-up vs St. Polten | News | Official Site

Sonia Bompastor has made five changes to her Chelsea side for our clash against St. Polten in the Women’s Champions League.

Sam Kerr comes into the side for her first start for Chelsea since returning from her long layoff as a late substitute away at Aston Villa in mid-September.

Skipper Millie Bright is, meanwhile, rested and is replaced in the starting XI by American centre-back Naomi Girma, and Keira Walsh takes the armband for this evening.

As Bompastor confirmed in her pre-match press conference, goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has not travelled to Austria due to a small problem with her calf. Summer signing Livia Peng will therefore make her second Women’s Champions League appearance of the season in England international’s absence.

Wing-backs Ellie Carpenter and Sandy Baltimore also return to the side after being named on the substitutes bench for our 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium at the weekend.

Chelsea: Peng, Carpenter, Bronze, Girma, Baltimore, Rytting Kaneryd, Walsh (c), Kaptein, Thompson, Macario, Kerr

Substitutes: Spencer, Bright, Buurman, Nusken, Cuthbert, James, Bjorn, Charles, Jean-Francois, Hamano, Potter
