Crawley Town v Posh: Match Preview

Posh make the journey to Crawley Town seeking a victory to progress to the knockout stages of the Vertu Trophy.
Peterborough United make the trip to Sky Bet League Two side Crawley Town for the final group phase game of the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday night (7.45pm), knowing that a win will secure their progress into the knockout stages.
A defeat to Leyton Orient on Matchday One has set up the ‘winner takes all’ finale to the group with Luke Williams’ side looking to build on back to back victories in the Emirates FA Cup and Sky Bet League One.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of Rio Adebisi, Sam Hughes, Cian Hayes and George Nevett due to injury while David Okagbue and Matt Garbett are unavailable as they are away on international duty.
Crawley welcome back striker Ryan Loft from suspension but Harry McKirdy is expected to miss out through injury with Scott Malone also a doubt for the Reds.
ONE TO WATCH
Kabongo Tshimanga
Former Posh striker Kabongo Tshimanga (pictured below) joined Crawley Town in the summer and has netted twice for the club after a prolific loan stint with Swindon Town in League Two, which yielded 13 goals in all competitions. A poacher, Tshimanga comes alive in the box and is also adept from the penalty spot. Has scored over 100 career goals and at 28-years-old, will feel he has the chance to work his way back up the leagues.
FROM THE MANAGER
“I have come up against Crawley during my time with Notts County and they are a good side who have forced my teams to change formations within games to cope with the way that they play. This competition is special to the Football Club with back to back wins, I would love to take this club back to Wembley, but we have a job to do to get out of the group. We know what we need to do, the task is simple, win the game,” Williams said.
