Golden, glistening, and crackling to perfection — crispy bacon is the ultimate balance of salty, smoky, and savoury. From lazy Sunday breakfasts to gourmet burgers, crispy bacon has a way of stealing the spotlight every time. Whilst frying it in a pan with oil remains the go-to approach for most, classically trained chef Billy Parisi has a different view.
The chef insists that baking bacon is “hands down the best way” to achieve “delicious and crispy” results. He maintains that “you will never make it any other way again” once you’ve given it a go.
Billy added: “I’ve pan-fried, grilled, even deep-fried it, but to this day I’ve never found a better way to prepare it than this.”
This method works perfectly for streaky bacon, though if you’re using thick-cut bacon, simply add three to five minutes to your cooking time.

Preparing bacon in the oven could well be the ultimate method for cooking the breakfast favourite, reports the Express.
Beyond producing mouthwatering, perfectly crispy rashers that develop a lovely golden colour whilst maintaining their form rather than curling up in the pan, this technique also creates considerably less mess than conventional hob cooking.
The chef emphasises there are two “important things” required for baking bacon – parchment paper and a baking tray. Parchment paper doesn’t just help achieve that crispy texture, but it also speeds up the cooking process.
The two “best temperatures” for oven-baked bacon are 190C and 200C, and ensure your baking tray sits on the middle shelf of the oven whilst cooking. Whilst it takes up to 25 minutes to bake in the oven, the chef insisted that “it’s well worth it”.
Cook the bacon for 22 to 25 minutes at 190C, or for 18 to 22 minutes at 200C.

Line your baking tray with parchment paper, arrange the bacon roughly half an inch apart and bake for 22 to 25 minutes at 190C.
To “enhance the flavour” of the bacon, the chef suggested adding some cracked pepper on top before baking or drizzling a touch of maple syrup over it.
After cooking, don’t allow the bacon to sit in its own rendered fat, as it will turn soggy. Take it off the tray straight away and place it on paper towels.
