Travis Hunter injury update: Season is over for Jaguars’ rookie

NFL insiders have the latest injury update on Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie Travis Hunter.

The season is over for Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie Travis Hunter.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hunter underwent knee surgery to repair the lateral collateral ligament (LCL).

Rapoport added that Hunter should be able to return to full football activities within six months.

The Jaguars had hoped initially that this was a short-term injury, but that was not the case. There was no other damage to Hunter’s knee other than the LCL.

Hunter suffered the non-contact injury in practice prior to Jacksonville’s Week 9 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

In Hunter’s final game prior to the Jaguars’ Week 8 bye, he took on a much larger role on offense and put together a career day against the LA Rams in London.

He would play 67 of the team’s 77 offensive snaps and led the Jaguars in targets, receptions, and receiving yards.

This enhanced role was presumably going to be the new norm for Hunter on the offensive side of the ball moving forward.

Hunter will finish his rookie season having caught 28-of-43 passes for 298 yards with a touchdown on offense.

Defensively, he made 14 tackles, while allowing nine receptions on 15 targets for only 96 yards with two pass breakups, according to PFF.

Hunter played 162 defensive snaps compared to 323 on offense.
