Jags’ Hunter undergoes season-ending knee surgery

Jacksonville Jaguars two-way star Travis Hunter will miss the remainder of his rookie season after undergoing surgery to repair the LCL in his right knee, the team announced Tuesday in a press release.

The 22-year-old is expected to “full football activites” in six months.

Hunter, the second overall pick in this year’s draft, suffered the injury in practice on Oct. 30 and was placed on inured reserve by the team shortly after.

“We’re currently assessing the injury just to determine the best course of action moving forward for Travis and for the team,” head coach Liam Coen said after Hunter first sustained the injury. “Feel bad for the guy, for the kid, for our team, for everything, but he’s in good spirits right now. Minor setback for a major comeback. That’s just the way it’s got to be.”

A 2024 Heisman Trophy winner with Colorado, Hunter’s last appeared for the team in Week 7 before Jacksonville’s bye week, breaking out with eight catches for 104 yards, and first NFL touchdown.

The Suwanee, GA native has hauled in 28 catches for 298 yards and a touchdown as a receiver, while adding 15 total tackles and three pass breakups as a defensive back.
