Progressive Personality Kisses The Shoes Of Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett: Fandom Or Fanaticism?

Progressive radio host Stephanie Miller has taken political fandom to a bizarre new extreme, prompting questions about the nature of modern political devotion after she publicly boasted about literally kissing the shoes of Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett.
Crockett, who has rapidly emerged as one of the Democratic Party’s most aggressive and visible critics of President Donald Trump—and is rumored to be mulling a potential Senate bid—appears to have inspired an act of near-worship from the veteran broadcaster.
Over the weekend, Miller, a self-described progressive with a well-documented history of Democratic loyalty, gushed on social media:
“Why, yes I DID kiss the sneakers of @JasmineForUS and I DO worship the ground she walks on! And she was LOVELY about it! 🤣”
The declaration, which included a photo showing the lawmaker’s footwear, immediately sparked a flurry of reactions, inviting scrutiny of the host’s fervent devotion.
The Rise of Crockett and the Cult of Personality
Rep. Crockett has garnered national attention for leading the Democratic charge in combative exchanges with Republicans. She is often seen clashing with GOP lawmakers during high-profile hearings and is one of the loudest critics of the 47th President.
Her outspokenness, including controversial comments such as referring to Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as “Governor Hotwheels” in March, has solidified her as a polarizing figure—beloved by the liberal base and reviled by conservatives.
A Curious Contrast
The sheer depth of Miller’s adoration is all the more notable given her past commentary.
In a segment dissected online just this past February, the radio host sharply critiqued conservatives’ “blind devotion” to then-candidate Trump.
Yet, her act of “worship” towards Rep. Crockett’s footwear now positions Miller herself at the center of a debate over political loyalty — think “No Kings.”
Miller’s record includes consistent praise for the Democratic establishment, having previously called former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “the best there ever was” and participating in various Hollywood-backed activist events.
The highly unusual public display, whether intended as a satirical exaggeration or a genuine expression of profound political admiration, has certainly succeeded in creating a viral moment, leaving readers to wonder: where is the line between political fandom and outright fanaticism?
