The trade speculation is less interesting to me because the fans and pundits have little idea who might truly be available or what the teams might actually accept as a return for the players. I mean, most players are available if you give up enough of your assets to attain them.
I also suspect it to be too early for most teams to be trading away their talent for futures. Calgary seems like they’d be open to business, but most other teams aren’t terribly far from a playoff spot at this moment.
The trade market will heat up later on, but I’m not shocked if Guerin is trying to assess who might become available for a trade that may materialize down the road.
I’m not saying the Wild should avoid any trade, but unless we have knowledge of concrete options, it’s a lot of speculation, and I’m more interested in the development of the team they are putting on the ice.
Wild have won both games with Zuccarello so far, but opposition hasn’t been high quality, so we should have a better sense of their situation by Thanksgiving, if not by the end of the upcoming weekend(Anaheim and Vegas).
