Sixers’ Tyrese Maxey discusses seeing Celtics for third time already

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers will play their 11th game of the season on Tuesday night. It will also be their third time already facing off with the Boston Celtics.
The Sixers knocked off the Celtics 117-116 on opening night up in Boston before the Cs bounced back with a 109-108 win over the Sixers in the NBA Cup on Halloween. It probably is due to them being in the same group in Cup play, but it is peculiar that the Sixers are seeing the Celtics for the third time already and they won’t see them again until March 1 up in Boston.
If one asks Tyrese Maxey, he is a bit tired of seeing green.
“I feel like I’ve played against the Celtics over the last three years, like, 40 times, honestly,” Maxey said on Sunday. “We know what they’re gonna do. They know what we’re gonna do. At the end of the day, it’s about going out there and executing whatever game plan our coaches bring out Tuesday, and guard your man, guard your yard, and who can be more competitive will come out on top that night.”
With that being said, Maxey is averaging 33.0 points, 10.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds while shooting a robust 52.5% from the floor and 61.1% from deep in the previous two games against the Celtics. He just finds a way to have big nights against Boston and one has to hope that continues in this matchup as the Sixers look to get back in the win column in the midst of a tough stretch for them.
