Breaking: Epstein alleged in private emails that Trump knew of his conduct, Democrats say

US politicians investigating Jeffrey Epstein have released a fresh batch of documents in which the convicted sex offender suggests Donald Trump knew more about his sexual abuse than the US president has acknowledged.

In one of the emails, released by Democrats, Epstein appears to claim Mr Trump had “spent hours at my house” with one of Epstein’s victims.

In another, the disgraced financier says: “of course [Mr Trump] knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine [Maxwell] to stop”.

The emails were addressed between Epstein and American author Michael Wolff, and include the pair discussing how Mr Trump would handle journalists’ questions about his connection with Epstein.

Mr Trump has denied any involvement in or knowledge of the sex-trafficking activities of his former friend, who died by suicide in federal prison in 2019 as he was awaiting trial.

But Democrats on the House Oversight Committee said the emails “raise serious questions about Donald Trump and his knowledge of Epstein’s horrific crimes.”
