Ricky’s Raiders handed dreaded bye as NRL unveils full Magic Round schedule

The NRL has unveiled the 2026 Magic Round fixtures, with eight bumper fixtures scheduled for the yearly Suncorp Stadium spectacle.
Last season it was the Sea Eagles who had the dreaded Magic Round bye, but this year Ricky Stuart’s Raiders will sit out.
The Sharks and Bulldogs kick off the weekend of football, followed by the Wayne Bennett derby between the Rabbitohs and Bulldogs.
The Saturday fixtures are kicked off by the Tigers and Sea Eagles, before the Roosters and Cowboys and Round 1 duo the Eels and Storm do battle.

On Sunday, the Titans vs Knights deliver a 2024 rematch, with Des Hasler’s side coming desperately close to beating Newcastle on the buzzer two years ago.
However, a Brian Kelly try was denied which handed Adam O’Brien’s side the victory.
To round out Magic Round, the Warriors face the Broncos and the Panthers and Dragons close out proceedings in a stellar weekend of football.

Meanwhile, Wagga Wagga will play host to the NRLW Magic Round in August, with six games to be played at Geohex Park.
The ground has a capacity of 10,000, previously playing host to Raiders NRL games and NRLW pre-season ties.
The NRL and NSW government also have an agreement in place to take women’s sport to regional areas, growing visibility of the NRLW while also boosting the economy of the host town.
“Wagga Wagga has a deep and historic connection to rugby league, producing several elite players who have represented at state and national levels,” NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said in a statement.
“It’s also the largest inland city in New South Wales, a vibrant hub of culture and the arts, not to mention great restaurants, accommodation and wineries, making it an ideal host for the 2026 NRLW Magic Round for players and fans.”
Alongside both Magic Round schedules, two rivalry fixtures have been revealed with a grand final rematch scheduled for Round 3 on Friday March 20.
The Tigers and Bulldogs will also do battle in Round 12 on Saturday May 30.
