Reds acquire Dodgers catcher

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday claimed catcher Ben Rortvedt off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The 28-year-old is a former second-round draft pick of the Minnesota Twins who has appeared in 227 games for four teams across four Major League seasons.
Rortvedt, who bats from the left side, made his MLB debut with the Twins in 2021. He played part of 2023 with the New York Yankees and parts of 2024 and 2025 with the Tampa Bay Rays before finishing last season in L.A.
Rortvedt started both Wild Card games against the Reds in the playoffs and also appeared in games against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS.
In 559 career at-bats he’s hit .190 with 9 homers and 52 RBI.
