Charlotte lands $207M auto company relocation, bringing 1,200 jobs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – An auto company is investing $207 million in a major relocation to Charlotte, bringing thousands of jobs to the area.
Scout Motors, an emerging automotive manufacturer, will establish its new headquarters at Plaza Midwood Commonwealth near East Independence Boulevard.
The facility will serve as the company’s central hub for leadership and innovation and is expected to employ 1,200 workers by 2030, with an average salary of $172,878.
“This project marks a major job creation milestone for our city and will act as a catalyst for continued revitalization in an area already seeing new life through infrastructure and development,” said Mayor Vi Lyles.

According to city officials, the relocation represents one of the largest job creation announcements in Charlotte over the past decade.
“We’re excited to see the impact this innovative company’s investment will have on Charlotte,” Lyles continued.
Scout Motors said Charlotte was chosen following a “comprehensive, multi-state evaluation.”
“Charlotte is the ideal home for Scout Motors — a place as dynamic as our people and brand, where heritage and pride meet progress and innovation,” said Scott Keogh, president and CEO of Scout Motors.

The company plans that initial staffing and office development will begin in 2026, with full headquarters operations scaling up over several years.
