Ja Morant injury update: Memphis Grizzlies reveal playing status ahead of game vs Celtics

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is “trending towards being,” coach Tuomas Iisalo told reporters ahead of a Nov. 12 matchup against the Boston Celtics due to right ankle soreness.
This will be Morant’s second missed game of the season. He missed one contest on Nov. 2 due to a on-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. He’s been available for 11 of the Grizzlies’ first 12 games.
Morant missed the entire Grizzlies preseason while dealing with a left ankle sprain. He injured his right ankle in the Nov. 11 loss against the New York Knicks.
The 2025-26 season has been a struggle so far for the two-time Grizzlies All-Star point guard. Morant is averaging 18.9 points and 8.1 assists per game, but his shooting numbers are at a career low. He’s shooting 35.2% from the field and 16.7% on 3-pointers.
Depth is already shallow at point guard for the Grizzlies. Guards Javon Small (left turf toe), Scotty Pippen (left great toe surgery) and Ty Jerome (right calf strain) are all also out against the Celtics.
Vince Williams Jr. and Cam Spencer are both expected to see more time at point guard in Morant’s absence.
