Philip Cairns (13) who went missing in October 1986
The death has been announced of Alice Cairns, the mother of the Rathfarnham schoolboy Philip who went missing on his way back to school in 1986.
A notice on RIP.ie says that Alice, formerly of Lisnafunchin, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny, died suddenly but peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday. Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
