Activision Unveils Enhanced Anti-Cheat Measures for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

Activision has unveiled further details regarding its initiatives to combat cheating in the highly anticipated release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, set to launch later this week. In a recent blog post, the company emphasized the necessity for players on PC to enable TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, establishing a crucial foundation for the game’s anti-cheat measures. Activision describes this process as a handshake with its Ricochet anti-cheat system, signaling that a player’s setup is legitimate and ready for gameplay.
The post highlighted the evolution of their machine-learning-based anti-cheat strategies, designed to make the system “smarter, faster, and fairer.” Specifically, the developer mentioned advancements in its aimbot-detection models, which have been refined to discern whether a player’s targeting is the result of human skill or automated assistance. The updated models aim to improve precision, leveraging insights from actual gameplay to enhance the detection of cheaters.
In addition to aimbot detection, Ricochet’s anti-cheat efforts now include behavioral models that analyze player movements and engagement patterns. According to Activision, these upgraded systems assess not just aiming behavior but also how players navigate the game and their overall gameplay strategies. For instance, if a player consistently secures kills in less frequented areas of a map, this behavior may trigger a flag for further examination.
Activision explained that the pattern recognition systems have been trained on real match data to identify genuine skill versus questionable play, thereby enhancing the overall integrity of the game environment. The blog post also indicated that several new anti-cheat features, which were successfully tested during the multiplayer beta, will be even more effective upon the game’s official release.
