Glen Powell’s ‘SNL’ promo perfectly pays homage to Christopher Walken

It’s a big week for actor Glen Powell as his newest movie — a reimagining of Stephen King’s The Running Man — hits theaters this Friday. Directed by the iconic Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), The Running Man is the first the Twisters and Top Gun: Maverick alumni has taken the solo lead in an action movie.
As part of the press push for The Running Man, Powell has joined The Rewatchables podcast, Hot Ones, The Graham Norton Show and BBC radio, to name just a few. He’s also hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time this week, and the released promo was absolute perfection.
In the video, Powell paid homage to Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” — one of the best music videos of all time — from 2001. The music video, which was directed by Spike Jonze, featured actor Christopher Walken dancing through a hotel lobby.
Powell channels Walken well, wearing a similar suit and showing off some rather shockingly good dance moves as he made his way through 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
The video ends with Powell taking a comedic fall, but if this performance is any indication how the show will go Saturday, he’s going to crush it.
