LIV Golf Promotions Event Set for January 2026, McKibbin Claims Historic Win at Hong Kong Open

The LIV Golf Promotions event is set to take place from January 8 to 11, 2026, at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida. This highly anticipated tournament will feature four rounds of stroke play spanning over the course of four days. Excitingly, the league announced it will reward the top two finishers with full-season spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League, expanding on last year’s offering of just one qualifying spot.
Recently, the spotlight shone brightly on McKibbin at the Hong Kong Open, where he showcased remarkable skill by shooting rounds of 60, 65, 65, and 63 to win by an impressive seven shots. His performance was nothing short of historic; he shattered the course record in the first round and later broke the tournament scoring record by six strokes. Additionally, McKibbin tied the record for the largest margin of victory in the 66-year history of the tournament. During his standout week, he managed to hit 67 out of 72 greens in regulation, achieving a remarkable 93.1% accuracy.
In reflecting on his landmark achievement, McKibbin stated, “It means a lot. I mean, with a tournament with so much history behind it, and you know, great players that have won this tournament, to have the scoring record is pretty special, and something that will definitely live with me forever.”
Peter Uihlein from RangeGoats GC, a two-time winner on The International Series, made a valiant effort to catch McKibbin, finishing the tournament in second place with a final-round score of 2-under 68. He concluded with a total of 20-under par, seven shots behind McKibbin’s dominant total of 27-under par.
