That was the Norwegian tactician’s fifth gig in management following two stints at Molde, a short stay at Cardiff and a three-year run at his beloved United.

The legendary striker admitted that he is currently “looking” and “open” to a new opportunity when he appeared on Stick to Football to reunite with ex-Man Utd team-mates Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes as well as Jill Scott and Ian Wright.

Solskjaer said: “I’m looking. I’m open. It’s not like I’m desperate to be back in.

“But yes, in England, I love living here as well. Is it Norway, is it Sweden, is it wherever, it’s about working with people.

Why are Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool not hosting Euro 2028 games?

“I love just trying to make the most of them, or make them be the best version of themselves, and help the club.”

Solskjaer then admitted he would like to become the next Norway manager.

That would allow the ex-Besiktas boss to reunite with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, whom he coached at Molde for a year until the former’s return to Old Trafford in 2018.

However, the United great is adamant he would only want the job when current Norway boss Stale Solbakken decided to step down amid his impressive work that brings the country close to qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

Solskjaer added: “We’ve got a good coach still; we’re on the way to the World Cup.

“But if he [Solbakken] one day doesn’t sign a new deal? Of course, who wouldn’t want to work with Erling Haaland again?”
