Telenovela heartthrob William Levy (Camino A Arcadia, Vuelve a Mi) is taking on a natural disaster high-stakes action romance in the upcoming Bajo Un Volcán, his first feature film shot in Spain.
The Cuban-American actor co-stars with Spanish actress Maggie Civantos, known for her roles in the hit series Las Chicas del Cable, Vis a Vis and crime thriller Express, set to premiere on the ViX streaming platform’s premium service.
The film follows Captain Mario Torres (Levy), a military pilot and evacuation expert who arrives in Tenerife after seismic activity puts the island on alert. When the volcano appears to calm, volcanologist Dani (Civantos) warns it’s a false sense of security. No one believes her until the eruption begins, forcing the pair to navigate both nature’s fury and their growing connection.
Bajo Un Volcán was filmed on location in Tenerife, the same place where his series Camino A Arcadia was shot. That action drama debuted on ViX in August.
Director Martín Cuervo (La Bandera, Todos lo hacen) helms the project. In addition to his starring role, Levy is executive producer of the film.
The cast also features Fabiola Guajardo (Los ricos también lloran), Adriana Torrebejano (Muertos S.L.), Elia Galera (Zorro), Antón Lofer (La Bandera), and Pino Montesdeoca (Way Down).
Produced by Eduardo Campoy and David Martínez of Secuoya Studios, together with William Levy Entertainment for ViX, the film marks the second project from the collaboration with TelevisaUnivision, announced during the company’s 2024-2025 upfronts.
Bajo Un Volcán had a theatrical release in Spain in June. It will be available exclusively in the United States and Latin America on ViX premium November 21.
