Wet Leg celebrates three Grammy nominations including Best Alternative Album

Hot on the heels of announcing three huge shows for next summer (Manchester, Leeds and London as well as Isle of Wight Festival), Isle of Wight band Wet Leg have just landed three Grammy nominations.

The band’s latest single, Mangetout, is up for Best Alternative Music Performance, where the band will be squaring up against Bon Iver (Everything Is Peaceful Love), The Cure (Alone), Turnstile (Seein’ Stars) and Hayley Williams (Parachute).

Best Alternative Music Album
Their second album Moisturizer is also in the running for Best Alternative Music Album, once again putting them head-to-head with Bon Iver, The Cure and Hayley Williams, plus Tyler, The Creator.

The album secured the top spot in its first week of release in the UK album chart – duplicating the impressive achievement of their self-titled debut album.

Best Album Cover
As if that wasn’t enough, the album has also earned a nomination for Best Album Cover, thanks to its striking visual design.

The full band – Hester Chambers, Ellis Durand, Henry Holmes, Joshua Mobaraki and Rhian Teasdale – are credited as art directors alongside Matt de Jong and Jamie-James Medina.

Third album ‘done’ – pretty unlikely?
In a recent chat with John Kennedy of ‘Listen to X-Posure’ on Radio X, Rhian and Josh casually hinted that album three is already finished. The station got very excited.

We’re reserving judgement – Wet Leg has a well-documented habit of winding the media up, so we will be taking the news with a large bucket of salt 😉

Flying the flag
What isn’t in doubt is their momentum. Wet Leg continue to dominate the alternative music scene and wave the Isle of Wight flag in front of a global audience.

A huge congratulations to the whole band – the Island couldn’t be prouder.
