Patriots-Jets inactives: Two rookies set to make NFL debuts

FOXBORO — The Patriots are down three starters and two key backups Thursday night against the Jets.
The Patriots’ list of inactives includes starters RB Rhamondre Stevenson (toe), WR Kayshon Boutte (hamstring)
and LB Christian Elliss (hip) and backups TE Austin Hooper (concussion) and DT Joshua Farmer (ankle).
Here’s the Patriots’ full list of inactives:
QB Tommy DeVito (emergency third QB)
RB Rhamondre Stevenson (toe)
WR Kayshon Boutte (hamstring)
TE Austin Hooper (concussion)
LB Christian Elliss (hip)
DT Joshua Farmer (ankle)
OL Caedan Wallace
Notes:
• DeVito can only enter Thursday night’s game if Drake Maye or Joshua Dobbs suffer injuries. He would need to come out if either player gets cleared.
• Stevenson will miss his third straight game with a toe injury. The Patriots elevated D’Ernest Johnson from the practice squad to add depth behind TreVeyon Henderson and Terrell Jennings.
• Boutte will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury. Mack Hollins and Kyle Williams had breakout games last week in his absence. The Patriots also have Stefon Diggs, DeMario Douglas and Efton Chism at wide receiver.
• Hunter Henry is the only healthy tight end on the roster, though fullback Jack Westover converted from the position this offseason, so expect him to fill in for Hooper. Mack Hollins has played a hybrid-tight end role at times this season, as well.
• Jack Gibbens started in place of Elliss last week and led the team in tackles. The Patriots also have Jahlani Tavai and Marte Mapu to play next to Robert Spillane.
• Rookie defensive tackle Eric Gregory is set to make his NFL debut with Farmer out. Gregory was claimed off waivers from the Bengals before the season. Gregory will serve as depth behind Milton Williams, Christian Barmore, Khyiris Tonga and Cory Durden.
• Rookie safety John Saunders Jr. is also set to make his NFL debut. The rookie defensive back was signed off the Dolphins’ practice squad late last month. The Patriots also have Dell Pettus and Brenden Schooler behind starters Craig Woodson and Jaylinn Hawkins.
• Wallace has yet to make his season debut. Behind left tackle Will Campbell, left guard Jared Wilson, center Garrett Bradbury, right guard Mike Onwenu and right tackle Morgan Moses, the Patriots will have backup tackles Marcus Bryant and Vederian Lowe and guard/center Ben Brown.
