Good news for people heading off on a winter break ahead of Christmas. Dublin Airport have changed their liquid restrictions, making it easier to bring your cosmetics, creams and makeup on board your flight.

Previously, liquid restrictions meant that all liquids had to be 100ml or under, and they needed to fit into a square, one litre clear plastic bag. The bag also had to be sealable.

Now, Dublin Airport has scrapped the rule completely, thanks to newer, high-tech security scanners.

The airport announced on Instagram that passengers no longer need to put their liquids in plastic bags. Instead, liquids can stay inside your carry-on luggage. Electronics can also be kept inside your bag too.

Perhaps the most positive development is the fact that liquids will no longer have to be 100ml or under. This will be very welcome news for those of us who had to sacrifice bringing our favourite make-up products on trips abroad, or had to leave our favourite shampoo at home!

“No more 100ml rule – bring up to 2L per item through Dublin Airport security,” the airport said on Instagram.

However, while this is all great news for those flying out of Dublin, there is a catch. These rules may not apply in other airports, meaning people could get caught out while flying home and have to bin their products if they are over 100ml or don’t fit in the plastic bag.

“Check the rules of your returning airport – not all airports have said goodbye to the plastic bag and the 100ml rule,” Dublin Airport stated.

“We mention these rules are Dublin Airport only and you must check the rules of your returning airport! Not all airports have made the change over yet. So if you bring a 2L shower gel, you may have to leave it behind depending on your returning airport!” Dublin Airport warned.
