The incident took place during the 13th over of South Africa’s first innings bowled by Jasprit Bumrah in Kolkata on Friday morning.

Jasprit Bumrah is leading India’s bowling attack in the ongoing first Test against South Africa at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. During the first hour of the opening day’s play, Bumrah made headlines for his super show with the ball. He dismissed both South African openers – Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram. While Rickelton was clean bowled by the 31-year-old pacer from Ahmedabad, Rishabh Pant completed Markram’s catch on the first ball of the 13th over.
On the last ball of the 13th over of South Africa’s first innings, Bumrah trapped Temba Bavuma in front of the wickets and made a loud appeal for LBW. But his appeal was ignored by the on-field umpire post, and then he got engaged in discussion with his teammates for DRS.
During the discussion, Bumrah’s stump-mic chatter for Bavuma caught everyone’s attention.
In a video going viral on the internet, Bumrah can be heard saying, “Bauna bhi hai b*******.”

Bavuma, who led South Africa to the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 title win in June this year, is back in South Africa’s playing XI for the ongoing Test against India. He missed the two-match Test series against Pakistan last month due to injury-related issues.
Failed to score big
Bavuma came out to bat at No. 4 for South Africa in the first innings of the ongoing Test in Kolkata, but he could only manage to score 3 runs from 11 balls. He was sent back to the pavilion by Kuldeep Yadav. On the sixth ball of the 16th over bowled by Kuldeep, Bavuma was caught by Dhruv Jurel in the leg slip.
At the time of his dismissal, South Africa were struggling at 71/3 in 16 overs.
