Fans Think Hilary Duff’s Lyric ‘Very Leo Of You With Your Scorpio Touch’ Has Nothing To Do With The Zodiac (+ Everything To Do With This Celebrity)

Hilary Duff is back, baby! Her music was the soundtrack of many of our childhoods (“What Dreams Are Made Of” is still a go-to karaoke song for me), and as she’s grown up with us, her music has matured with us—literally.
In her newest single, Mature, Duff looks back on her life from a new perspective—specifically, her dating life. She sings about how when she was younger, she dated an older man, and how even though she’s grown older and wiser, her ex continues to date women who were her age at the time:
She looks
Like all of your girls but blonder
A little like me, just younger
Bet she loves when she hears you say
“You’re so mature for your age, babe”
She looks
Like shе could be your daughter
Like me before I got smarter
When I was flattered to hear you say
“You’re so mature for your age, babe”, oh
It’s a scathing takedown, but there’s one line specifically that has garnered plenty of interest:
She’s me, I’m her in a different font
Just a few years younger, a new haircut
Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch
So, what does Hilary mean when she says, “Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch”? Astrology fans may have been excited to hear Duff call out the zodiac signs, but Leo and Scorpio aren’t necessarily connected. How does the songstress connect the two?
The answer: It’s clever wordplay about a celebrity you definitely know about.
Leonardo DiCaprio (often affectionately called “Leo”) is well-known for dating younger women—in fact, the joke surrounding him is that he refuses to date anyone older the 25, despite being in his 50s. And what’s Leonardo’s zodiac sign? Believe it or not, Scorpio.
Is Hilary saying that she dated Leonardo DiCaprio? Personally, I don’t think so, though she certainly could be hinting at it. Instead, I think she’s taking a very well-known man with a very well-known (and questionable) dating habit and using him as a placeholder for the real men in her life who have similar proclivities. Because pointing out what everyone already knows about Leonardo DiCaprio is a lot safer than airing someone else’s dirty laundry.
Either way, Duff’s song has led to a lot of speculation about who she could be referring to from her own love life, including exes Joel Madden and Wilmer Valderrama. However, knowing Hilary, we’ll probably never fully know the truth.
