Cook County officials announce mailing, due dates for second installment of 2024 property tax bills

Cook County officials have confirmed that the long-delayed 2024 second installment for property tax bills will be mailed on Nov. 14 and be due Dec. 15.
The mailing of the second installment bills was delayed due to issues upgrading the county’s property tax system, so the window between issuance and payment is tighter than normal.
Homeowners who are missing property tax exemptions and wish to receive an adjusted tax bill as soon as possible may submit an Exemption Certificate of Error application to the Cook County Assessor’s Office Skokie branch, located at the Skokie Courthouse, 5600 W. Old Orchard Road. While walk-in visits are accepted, appointments are strongly encouraged due to expected long wait times.
Evanston’s Property Tax Assessment Review Office will also be available to assist homeowners with submitting exemption certificate of error applications; however, these adjusted tax bills are typically mailed within two to three weeks of approval (timeframe not guaranteed).
