The certainty of today’s clash between the national soccer team, the Mambas, and their counterparts from Morocco is still not a given, all because the player from the Mozambican team is demanding payment.
The match is part of the FIFA date, and serves to prepare the Mambas for their participation in the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025.
The Mambas insist that they should receive another five thousand dollars on top of what they have already been paid and had agreed with the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF).
A Radio Mozambique, In a press conference, which cites a source close to the process, the players have already received 1,200 dollars of the agreed amount, but they have also been paid the bonuses for the games against Somalia, in which they won by a single goal, at the end of qualifying for next year’s World Cup.
The FMF says there is no money to pay the five thousand dollars the players are demanding, since the agreement between the FMF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation does not include any financial remuneration, apart from sporting remuneration and the sharing of expenses for the Mozambican delegation in Morocco.
The match is scheduled for 8pm and should mark the inauguration of the Grand Stade in the port city of Tangier. The infrastructure was designed for CAN and 2030 World Cup matches.
It is hoped that an agreement will be reached between the players and the FMF by the time of the match.
