Robert Pattinson’s Critically Acclaimed Sci-Fi Box Office Bomb Finds a New Streamer

Robert Pattinson has spent most of the year answering questions about the next Batman movie, but he did team up with a massive Marvel star for a sci-fi thriller that’s switching streamers soon. Pattinson stars alongside Mark Ruffalo (Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and Steven Yeun (Invincible) in Mickey 17, the wacky sci-fi experiment following Mickey (Pattinson), an “expendable” employee whose clones are sent to colonize a dangerous ice planet. Following an underwhelming run in theaters, Mickey 17 began streaming on HBO Max along with other Warner Bros. productions. It’s now switching streamers, as Prime Video has confirmed it will become available on the platform starting November 26.

Micky 17 resonated with critics, who rated the film a Certified Fresh 77% on the world’s leading aggregator site, Rotten Tomatoes. The audience-driven Popcornmeter dipped to 73%, but this came from only 2,500 verified reviews, which pointed to a larger problem. People didn’t show up to theaters to watch Mickey 17, which led to the film grossing only $133 million at the global box office against a $118 million budget. Warner Bros. spent a fortune making Mickey 17, and it ultimately didn’t make enough during its theatrical run to justify its superhero-sized budget. Toni Collette also stars in the sci-fi adventure.

Bong Joon Ho wrote and directed Mickey 17, which is based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. Mickey 17 may not have found success at the box office, but it is viewed as one of the best book-to-screen adaptations of the last 10 years. For Jong Ho, it was his first film after he directed Parasite, the critically acclaimed psychological thriller that became the first foreign language feature film in history to win Best Picture.

When Does Robert Pattinson’s Next Movie Come Out?

Robert Pattinson’s latest movie, Die My Love, is now playing in theaters everywhere, as of last Friday. Pattinson co-stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the film, which follows a writer and a young mother who slips further and further into insanity, leaving her partner worried. Pattinson will also star alongside Zendaya in The Drama, which hits theaters on April 3, 2026, and he’ll possibly reunite with the Euphoria star via his confirmed role in Dune: Part Three, which arrives next year on December 18. He’s even due to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in The Batman: Part II, which has been delayed several times but will now be released on October 1, 2027.

Be sure to watch Mickey 17 when it hits Prime Video on November 26 and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
