‘One of 50 Bands to See Before You Die’ – US rockers to headline at Piece Hall

AMERICAN psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips and Scottish indie rock group The Beta Band are to headline a special night at Piece Hall next summer. The double headlining show is at the TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall stage on July 23.

Triple Grammy-winners The Flaming Lips are one of the most iconic, influential, unpredictable and vital forces in American alternative rock music. Q Magazine named them one of their 50 Bands to See Before You Die. They have collaborated with acts such as Miley Cyrus, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and The Chemical Brothers and their spectacular audio-visual events have legendary status.

Their latest LP, 2020 release American Head marked a return to a more melodic and song-oriented works and was hailed as their best work in years featuring on Year End/Best Of lists around the world. The Flaming Lips remain in a creative apex that has no bounds – within a genre all to themselves.

Folk, psychedelia and trip-hop inspired The Beta Band have reunited for the first time in 21 years, playing shows in the UK and America this autumn, following the re-release of their classic The Three EPs.

The four-piece formed in Fife in 1996, releasing a string of acclaimed EPs and albums before parting ways in 2004.Their three albums, The Beta Band, Hot Shots II and Heroes To Zeroes, helped define them as one of the most exciting and cherished bands of their generation.

The bands join a line-up that includes McFLY, Gary Numan, Madness, James Taylor, Deacon Blue, Paul Weller, Embrace and Alex James’ Britpop Classical headlining at Piece Hall next summer.
