Kim Kardashian knows what the people want to see.

During an episode of The Kardashians released on Thursday, Nov. 13, Kardashian, 45, reflected on the different type of “pressure” associated with a scripted series, like All’s Fair, versus her family’s reality series, which she’s been filming for decades.

With acting, “you can act, or you’re a bad actress,” she said, noting that the aim is to get people to like a character, whereas with reality TV, you’re trying to get the audience to like you “for who you are.”

Reality TV watchers want drama, too, which ups the ante, Kardashian continued, explaining that if you’re “excited that your life is finally together and calm … the viewer is pissed cause it’s finally together and calm.”

“It’s like, what happened to the days when your stepdad turns into a woman? That was TV gold,” she quipped, referring to Caitlyn Jenner’s transition in 2015.

The joke is one that Kardashian made a few weeks ago, too, during an October appearance on The Graham Norton Show. As she reflected on the success of her family’s run on TV, she said, “We shot the pilot and had no idea what it would turn into, but 20 years on, it is still going.”

At this point, she said, “The shows write themselves.”

“Once, when we wondered what might happen next, my stepdad turned into a woman!” she quipped. “There were two more seasons right there.”

Earlier this season, on The Kardashians, Caitlyn, 76, made her return to TV and her first-ever appearance on the Hulu iteration of the family’s show.

She surprised her daughters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and former stepchildren, Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and Rob, as she arrived at the family’s Hidden Hills home for their farewell dinner.

Kris Jenner had secretly called Caitlyn an hour before to invite her over. “I called Caitlyn and I said, ‘What are you doing?’ And of course, she said, ‘I’m eating dinner and watching Fox News.’ I said, ‘Of course you are.’ And, I said, ‘Would you like to come say goodbye to El Dorado Meadow with us and be with your kids?’ And she said, ‘I’m on my way.’ “

“It’s only right for Caitlyn to be here tonight too, because she actually was part of all those amazing memories,” Kris said in a confessional. “It wasn’t just my house — it was our house.”

Kendall, 30, and Kylie, 28, were both happy to have both their parents there to say goodbye to their childhood home. “I definitely wasn’t expecting my dad to be here, just knowing the relationship that my mom has with my dad — not that it’s bad, it’s just distant,” Kendall said in a confessional.

“My mom’s had a hard time inviting my dad to some of our family gatherings in the past, so it makes me happy that Kylie and I didn’t have to ask for my dad to be invited and that my mom just thought it was a good idea,” she said.

Kim, meanwhile, was clear about how she’s always maintained a relationship with Caitlyn despite some of the family growing more distant from her following her and Kris’ 2014 divorce and her transition the following year.

The SKIMS founder said during the episode that she and Caitlyn talk “all the time” and see each other often, adding that Caitlyn “helped shape who I am and why I’m successful today, and I’m grateful for that.”
