Hunger Games star’s ‘most underrated show’ streaming on Netflix

A show hailed by some as ‘one of the greatest sci-fi series ever’ is now available on Netflix.
All three seasons of Future Man, which originally aired between 2017 and 2020 with over 30 episodes, are now part of the streaming giant’s catalogue.
The series centres around Josh Futturman, a janitor leading a rather mundane life, spending most of his time playing video games when not at work.
However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he conquers a video game that everyone else has deemed unbeatable.
Following his victory, he is visited by mysterious figures from the future, Tiger and Wolf, who are characters from the game.
They warn him that the world is in peril and that he is the only one who can save it. Josh is then tasked with assembling a team to aid him as he embarks on a journey through time, undertaking various missions in an attempt to save Earth from alien invaders and secure the future of humanity, reports the Mirror.
Despite being developed by Hulu, a Disney-owned company, the series was removed from its platform due to budget constraints. Its arrival on Netflix provides a fresh audience with the chance to discover it.
Josh Hutcherson, known for his role in The Hunger Games, stars as Josh. He is joined by Eliza Coupe from Scrubs and Derek Wilson, who has previously featured in The Boys, Birds of Prey and Preacher.
Seth Rogen, who served as an executive producer on the series, makes a cameo appearance in some episodes as Susan Saint Jackalope. He is the presenter of The DieCathalon, a The Running Man-inspired death game, which collects people from time to hunt for fun.
Described as a blend of raunchy comedy and sci-fi, it impressed fans and critics alike. It boasts an impressive 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes overall and viewers claim it is one of the best hidden gems that more viewers should discover.
The Guardian declared it is a ” bonkers time-travel series full of smut, toilet humour and sci-fi fun”. While one fan went so far as to claim: ” Future Man is one of those hidden gems that you’re going to be so proud of that you found out. It’s one of the best sci-fi series ever.”
They weren’t the only ones with high praise as another added: “One of the best hidden gems I’ve discovered after running out of shows to watch. The comedy and references are great. I’ve probably watched it 3 times now and its one of those shows I will probably re-watch.”
A third commented online: “Honestly one of the most underrated shows ever. Has become one of my favourites! Man I loved it and especially the first season had me actually laughing out loud every single episode. But the whole show had so much heart and great character development.”
Meanwhile, another viewer enthused: “The best show that seemingly no one (that I know at least) has ever even heard of, let alone watched. All 3 seasons are just so enjoyable and rewatchable, but season 2 is a masterpiece! Will hook you right from episode one! Can’t recommend any higher!”
