Warriors Expected to Consider Trade for $186 Million All-Star Center

The Golden State Warriors are in a bit of a funk after their hot start to the season.
Golden State started the season 4-1 and looked like the team many expected them to be to start the season. However, since then, they’ve lost five of their last seven games, and most of their struggles have to do with the absence of their superstar guard, Stephen Curry.
At 7-6, however, the Warriors are still one of the better teams, especially when they are at full force. While that is the case with the Warriors, they could be in line to make a massive move prior to the trade deadline.

Although Golden State improved its frontcourt a tiny bit this offseason, it is still a position group that could use some help. As we inch closer and closer to the trade deadline, we could hear the Warriors being in play for a handful of players, including Sacramento Kings All-Star center Domantas Sabonis.
According to Allen Stiles of SacTown Sports 1140, a team in the state of California is expected to show interest in trading for Sabonis.
That team could be the Warriors.
“So when you’re trying to trade for Sabonis, there’s a team out there — and I heard about a team not too far down the road that could be interested. And when I say ‘down the road,’ I mean down the freeway — that team could look at a Domantas Sabonis. But again, he’s not going to live up to that $40-whatever-million AAV there. He’s probably not going to do it anywhere. That team might be better with him, but he won’t be producing at that contract level.”

Sabonis is the subject of trade rumors due to the Kings’ poor start to the season and their lackluster play since their impressive 2022-23 season.
The Kings have been on a downward spiral since that storybook season took place, and it appears they are at a dead end. The 29-year-old Sabonis is still in his prime with a handful of formidable basketball years left.
Sabonis is certainly a name to watch as the trade deadline looms. The only question is who will be in line for the three-time All-Star outside of the Warriors.
