Niamh Cullen reveals husband Jamie’s cancer diagnosis after falling ill on honeymoon

Niamh Cullen has revealed that her husband was diagnosed with cancer after he fell ill on their honeymoon.
Fashion influencer Niamh tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Italy’s Borgo di Tragliata last November, but things took a turn for the worse when they went to Rome on their mini-moon, with Jamie being hospitalised for over a week after falling ill.
Posting on their first wedding anniversary, Niamh revealed that while undergoing major surgery just before last Christmas, doctors found a cancerous tumour — with him being rushed to hospital again after his 10th chemotherapy session when he was diagnosed with sepsis that stemmed from a bout of pneumonia.

‘Last weekend marked one year of our marriage,’ Niamh wrote. ‘Nothing could have prepared us for the journey that was ahead. On day 3 of our wedding, Jamie became seriously unwell. What was meant to be a minimoon in Rome turned into 10 days in hospital.
‘We returned home where Jamie had some scans and conversations about next steps. Just two weeks before Christmas, Jamie underwent major surgery where doctors discovered a cancerous tumour. Our world shattered in an instant, but we stayed strong. Jamie bravely faced 10 rounds of chemotherapy.’
Niamh added that there were ups and downs on their journey, with her adding: ‘nothing could have prepared us for what followed his 10th session. He was rushed to hospital by ambulance, where he developed pneumonia that turned [into] sepsis just hours after his chemotherapy. It was scary and really not good. Not long after, he was rushed again to hospital with unbearable pain. We were given the devastating news the cancer had returned.’

Despite the cancer returning, Niamh has commended her husband for his strength and resiliency, writing in the caption: ‘I don’t think I’ll ever be able to articulate Jamie’s strength throughout this entire journey. He never ceases to amaze me with his incredible positive outlook and mindset, even in the darkest moments.
‘It’s been unimaginably tough seeing the person you love suffer and to feel so helpless. I get these waves of guilt daily because all I want to do is just swap places or take it away, But I can’t.
‘My husband is my inspiration, my hero and I love so much being his wife. In sickness and in health I know and pray that positive things are coming. They have to be, you deeply deserve it. Thanks for the support and patience. It’s been the most difficult time as newlyweds. We will not give up.’

Niamh also shared a photo of her and Jamie to her story, posting a lovely message of support, saying that she’ll be ‘by your side in every lifetime.’
Initially informing her followers of Jamie’s poor health, Niamh wrote: ‘Not how we planned the last 48 hours. Poor Jamie has been so sick since the wedding, he made our day 2 for like 30 minutes and when we left to head to Rome it went downhill.
‘He is in the best place and here now [in hospital] for another few days.’
