Lamine Yamal’s goal in Cornellà nominated for Puskas award

It had to be there! FIFA has released the shortlist for the 2025 Puskás Award, honouring the best goal of the 2024/25 season, and, of course, there’s a Barça nominee: Lamine Yamal’s stunner against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium. A work of art that simply had to make the cut. As if you need reminding…
Vote for Lamine Yamal
FIFA, together with key football stakeholders, has selected the 11 finest goals scored between 11 August 2024 and 2 August 2025. And until 3 December, fans can vote for their favourite one, with the final winner decided by public voting combined with a panel of FIFA Legends.
The result will be revealed on 16 December at the FIFA The Best Football Awards, where the top performers of last season will be crowned. Barça, in fact, boasts 11 nominees across men’s and women’s categories.
Liga winning goal
Lamine Yamal’s rocket in Cornellà is one of the standout memories of Barça’s 2024/25 campaign. In the 53rd minute, after receiving a pass from Olmo, the teenager cut inside and unleashed a curling shot into the top corner. Joan Garcia (now his teammate) had no chance.
And it wasn’t just any goal. Barça arrived at the RCDE Stadium in the third-to-last league match with the chance to secure the title mathematically. Lamine’s masterpiece delivered the three points and sealed the club’s 28th Liga.
The other nominees
Lamine will be up against: Alerrandro (Vitória), Alessandro Deiola (Cagliari), Pedro De la Vega (Seattle Sounders), Santiago Montiel (Independiente), Amr Nasser (Pharco), Carlos Orrantía (Atlas), Lucas Ribeiro (Mamelodi Sundowns), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Rizky Ridho (Persija Jakarta) and Kévin Rodrigues (Kasımpaşa).
