The snow is gone but Santa Claus is still coming to steel town.
Santa Claus Parade season is starting Saturday with visits to Hamilton and Niagara Falls. Visits are also planned for Burlington, Fort Erie, Brantford and beyond throughout the season.
Hamilton
The Santa Claus Parade in Hamilton is taking place in the Mountain for the second year in a row. The parade was moved originally due to construction, but “with such a great turnout last year,” organizers decided to keep the route.
The parade starts at 2 p.m. on Upper Sherman and Acadia Drive, head north on Upper Sherman to Limeridge Road and then west to Lime Ridge Mall, where it will end at the mall’s south parking lot.
Santa will do the tree lighting at the mall, which will have other parade-related activities.
Mission services will also be collecting non-perishable food items and financial donations at the start of the parade.
Niagara Falls
Santa Claus will then head to the falls for a parade beginning at 4 p.m.
The Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade will start at Victoria Avenue and Armoury Street and head northbound on Victoria to Valley Way. The route will then go onto Queen Street, ending at Centennial Square in front of city hall.
Donations will be gathered by Project SHARE along the route, but if you miss them, there will also be a bin at Centennial Square for people to leave their donations.
Those with letters to Santa will be able to hand them in at the parade.
There will also be a post-parade celebration with several food trucks, tree lighting, entertainment, photo ops, and more.
