Congressman Byron Donalds visits the University of Florida for Turning Point USA event

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – President Donald Trump’s endorsed candidate to be Florida’s next governor is back on the campaign trail on Friday after Thursday night’s stop at the University of Florida.

Congressman Byron Donalds spoke at a Turning Point USA event on campus.

That’s the conservative group the late Charlie Kirk founded.

“Charlie Kirk was a friend, and before his assassination, he and I had planned to do Turning Point events throughout Florida. It’s actually a really special and heartfelt night for me to do my part to continue his legacy and his work,” said Donalds.

TV20 was not permitted inside the event at the Reitz Union.

In addition to Trump’s endorsement, Donalds announced on Thursday Elon Musk is backing him in the race.

TV20 spoke with the democratic front-runner in the governor’s race, David Jolly, back in September, who wants to overhaul state education leadership.
