Mikie Tallon impresses, knocks out Fezan Shahid in fifth round

Mikie Tallon impressed yet again by knocking out Fezan Shahid in the fifth round of their flyweight bout on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr.- Conor Benn, live on DAZN at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tallon was coming off the back of an impressive win on The Ring’s Underdog series, which took place on Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford fight week.

The Liverpudlian enjoyed a solid first round against Shahid, landing to the body with lefts and rights, visibly hurting his man in the closing stages of the opener.

Though Shahid connected with a couple of rights himself in the second, Tallon again landed big, this time with a hard left to his opponent’s chin.

Tallon’s jab came into play in the third, throwing it consistently in order to offset any rhythm Shahid tried to build.

Shahid enjoyed success in the fourth, landing a hard body shot to Tallon’s right hand side. Once Tallon returned to the jab, however, the task became easier once again.

Tallon tried to force the issue in the fifth but smothered his work before settling down at mid-range. It had become clear Shahid could no longer throw anything that would threaten Tallon, who landed the fight ender moments before the end of the round.

As Shahid tried to duck a left from Tallon, Joe Gallagher’s charge threw a right uppercut which landed square on his opponent’s chin. Shahid failed to answer the count of 10 and just like that, the home fighter improved his record to 11 wins with no defeats.
