Belarus National Football Team Stuck at Polish Border

The Belarus national football team was unable to depart for Copenhagen (Denmark) on schedule for its away match in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the ABFF reported. The team spent more than 12 hours crossing the Polish border.
According to the original plan, the team was to travel by bus to Vilnius and fly from there to Copenhagen. Due to the closure of the Lithuanian border, the route was adjusted, and the team decided to travel to Denmark via Poland.
“Yesterday at 20:00 Minsk time, the country’s main football team headed to Warsaw on a bus pre-booked by the ABFF. Thanks to the coordinated work of the Border Guard Service of the Republic of Belarus, crossing the Belarusian border took 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, for unclear reasons, the time spent in the neutral zone and the subsequent passage through the Polish checkpoint amounted to more than 12 hours,” the ABFF said.
As a result, the departure time of the charter flight from Warsaw to Copenhagen had to be changed.
“Thus, at the moment, the Belarus national team’s travel time to the away match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Denmark amounts to 18 hours. The team still has to travel to Warsaw and fly to Copenhagen,” the ABFF stated.
